An inspiring review of our visit to the Milan Furniture Fair and Fuorisalone 2025 – with fresh ideas for lighting, furniture and interior design in the commercial sector.

Year for year events like the Salone del Mobile in Milan offer exciting new products and plenty of inspiration for our work at DOBAS Creation. This year we set off early – at 6:16 AM we headed south, starting from Lucerne. An unplanned stopover in the Gotthard tunnel delayed us by an hour – but Isabelle, Carolin and I finally arrived at the Milan furniture fair full of anticipation.

Focus on furniture for commercial interiors and selected brands

On the first day of the fair, we specifically chose halls with furniture manufacturers whose range were both interesting in terms of price and suitable for our projects in the commercial sector. We were particularly impressed by brands such as Arper, Moooi, PEDRALI and Billiani. We tested the comfort of several models on site – including a chair from PEDRALI, which is currently on the shortlist for a hospitality project by our colleague Isabelle.

Euroluce: illumination takes centre stage

One of the highlights was a visit to the Euroluce exhibition. The variety of lighting and installations was impressive: artistic glass bodies from SSans Souci Lighting and Preciosa Lighting, playful designs from Karman and bomma, but also technically sophisticated products – for example from the world-famous brand Artemide.

Exceptional exhibition stands

It was the architectural design of many exhibition stands that left a lasting impression on us. Sancal convinced with its clear lines, Poltranova opted for intense colors and silver elements, marset invited visitors to explore through peepholes and Brokis inspired with movable curtains that continuously created new spatial compositions.

Conclusion of the first day of the furniture fair

At the end of the first day, we visited the SaloneSatellite – an area where young designers presented experimental approaches and creative ideas. Tired but inspired, we ended the day with an aperitif and – unfortunately – a not-so-successful dinner. A gelato before bed sweetened the end of the first furniture fair day and filled our energy stores for day two.

Fuorisalone: Urban Design

The next day took us all over Milan. We found Urban Design in multiple places throughout the town. The «Making the Invisible Visible» exhibition by Google at Garage21 was particularly exciting: In a dark room, visitors interacted with light circles to make them dance. This special experience really had to be earned though, by queuing for 2.5 hours ...

The finale in Brera with the «Library of Light»

As time was pressing, we then focused on the Brera district – a hotspot for design in a small space. In charming courtyards and atmospheric exhibition spaces, we were inspired by the carpets, fittings, kitchens and surfaces.

Finally, we visited the installation «Library of Light» in the Pinacoteca di Brera. As a book lover, this combination of light and literature was a real highlight for me.

The Milan Furniture Fair 2025 was intense and varied. We returned with new inspiration and concrete ideas for upcoming DOBAS Creation projects.
