The 17th Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition (DJWE) in February 2020 was the largest edition of the event to date. Over five days, approximately 32,000 people visited the jewellery and watch exhibition in Doha – a record-breaking number.
As part of this year’s DJWE, DOBAS had the honour of designing and realising an exhibition stand for Darwish Holding. Four luxury brands showcased their exquisite watches and jewellery on the 900-square-metre stand.
Sea freight with 60 crates
The stand’s individual components were pre-produced in Switzerland and shipped to Qatar in 40-foot containers. The containers held around 60 numbered transit crates, which were stored in a warehouse near Doha upon arrival. From there, they were delivered to the «Doha Exhibition and Convention Center» over the course of the 14-day setup period, where the DOBAS assembly team constructed the stand.
Each day, deliveries and removals were allocated specific time slots. This meant that the numbered crates had to be meticulously managed to ensure they reached the site in the correct order, avoiding any delays in the assembly process.
One stand, 20 assemblers, and local teamwork
Approximately 20 members of the DOBAS assembly team, supported by local helpers, ensured that the stand was completed in all its splendour in time for the opening of the DJWE on 24 February.
After the exhibition, a ten-person team took care of dismantling the stand and carefully packing the components back into the numbered crates. This process ensures a seamless setup for reuse over the next five years.
