How long have you been working for Dobas AG?

I’ve been working at Dobas since September 2024.

Where did your professional journey take you prior to your current position?

My career began with an apprenticeship to become a 3D designer. After spending about a year in this profession, I decided to study interior architecture and did a vocational baccalaureate in design. In July 2024, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Interior Architecture.

What are the main tasks that make up your daily work routine?

As part of the drafting team, I draw up plans for retail spaces. I am always in communication with other draftspeople, the project heads and our partner companies.

How do you stay informed and, more importantly, inspired?

I enjoy learning from people’s knowledge and experiences, both in my professional and personal life. For example, when I go see exhibitions or visit places with different cultures, I often get to know other perspectives. I also really enjoy searching through books and magazines for inspiration. And of course I also keep up with the latest on social media.

What materials make your senses tingle?

I generally enjoy working with materials that have a three-dimensional or reflective surface. These materials have the power to completely change a room depending on how they are used. For instance, fascinating reflections are created in a space when light hits textured glass. If you use coloured glass or coloured light, this influences the mood in the space. The space gains depth and dynamism with very little.

What should not be missing from your workplace?

My water bottle and my beloved notebook, which is always there to remind me of all the things I have to do.

What building and/or space has left a particularly lasting impression on you and why?

I’m always taken aback by the architecture and interior design of the Culture and Congress Centre (KKL) in Lucerne. I’m especially impressed by its incredible roof that towers above everything and its fantastic location right on Lake Lucerne. Both of the water channels that flow from the exterior to the interior create interesting moods depending on the incidence of light. I think the most exciting part of the building is the huge concert hall where the acoustics strongly influence the interior architecture. During a tour through the KKL I learned of many exciting things about Jean Nouvel’s design. I was really impressed by how deeply he delved into the building’s surroundings to inform its design, including its interior, and his unusual material combinations. This important building will remain in my memory as a source of inspiration and it is my dream to stand on the stage and experience the unbelievable feel of the space for myself.

What fills you with joy and pride in your professional life?

When you’ve been thinking about something for a long time and you finally find a solution. And I’ll be even prouder when, for the first time, I can step back and look at one of my designs that has been realised.

What brings you joy in your personal life?

Sharing adventures with my closest friends and family. I also really enjoy playing and dancing to all sorts of music.
