Restaurant and Hotel Rössli
60-square-metre restaurant and reception area for a hotel on Lake Lucerne.
A family business with a long history, Restaurant and Hotel Rössli in Stansstad is run with heart and soul. Located on Dorfplatz, a stone’s throw from Lake Lucerne, the Rössli was also affected by the dramatic rise in water levels in the wet month of July 2021: its ground floor was flooded, the business was forced to close, and a speedy renovation needed to be kicked into gear.
Dobas was tasked with reconceptualising and redesigning the restaurant, a space with approximately 40 indoor seats, as well as the reception area of the 14-room hotel. We opted for the fish as the basic motif for the interior design, which had been previously used as a decorative element in the space and in different variations on the menu of the lakeside restaurant.
The colour concept is a palette of blue, brown and gold tones. The white stucco in the restaurant was preserved and repaired, and 6,500 handmade, shiny, beige tiles were laid on the bottom half of the walls. A long padded bench made of dark-brown leather now runs along three walls of the restaurant, and the same colour is echoed in the counters of the bar and reception area. We added gold accents in the lighting, the hotel reception’s wallpaper, and other decorative elements.
