How long have you been working for Dobas AG?  

In early May 2024 I had my first day of work at Dobas.

Where did your professional journey take you prior to your current position?

I began my career with an apprenticeship as a draftswoman specialising in building construction, after which I worked for some time in that field. Then, while working, I completed my technical vocational degree. After that I decided to continue developing my design skills and began studying Interior Architecture part-time at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, earning my degree in summer 2023. During my studies, I worked at an architecture studio where I helped out my colleagues with design, project and implementation planning. After my degree I decided to switch into the field of interior design.

What are your main tasks as an interior architect?  

Right now my main focus is on planning retail spaces.

How do you stay informed and, more importantly, inspired?

Above all, social media and websites. You can find anything on the internet, but it’s easy to get lost in the deluge of information.

What materials make your senses tingle?

I think glass is a very exciting material. Much more is out there than your average window glass. It can be stained in different colours and designed with varying degrees of transparency and textures. It allows you to create a wide variety of atmospheres and it can be used in multifaceted ways. Although it is powerful in its individuality, it is still fragile. (For more on the subject of glass, check out this blog post.)

What should not be missing from your workplace?

A cup of coffee – preferably filled to the top! Plus I always have a bottle of water next to it.

What building and/or space has left a particularly lasting impression on you and why?

A wellness centre in Milan housed in a beautiful old structure. Outside you can see the historic arcades and inside the original walls have been preserved. You can enjoy a drink in a light-flooded room with high ceilings. The building itself is not only stylishly designed but the experience when you’re there is really impressive. All your senses are appealed to in the various rooms: from different scents and floor textures to temperatures and seating surfaces right through to a pool that imitates a storm, recreating the falling rain, rolling thunder and flashes of lighting. The whole package was extraordinary!

What fills you with joy and pride in your professional life?

I especially like working on projects that I can design and plan. The different planning phases are exciting every single time. When projects combine design and technical aspects that’s what drives me.

What brings you joy in your personal life?

I enjoy spending time in nature and with my friends. Nature for disconnecting, and my friends for the conversation. I also really like travelling, because I always learn so many new things and bring home lots of new memories.
